A pitched roof is the single most exposed part of your property. When it is built and detailed correctly it will out-live everything else on the house — 60, 80, sometimes 100 years for a good slate or stone roof. When it is built badly, or with the wrong materials, it starts costing you money within 5 years.
White Horse Roofing carries out full pitched re-roofs, partial re-covers, structural repairs and heritage restorations across Oxfordshire, Berkshire and the Cotswolds. Every roof is stripped properly, felted with a modern breathable underlay, re-battened to current spacing, and covered in materials matched to the age and character of the property.
Who it's for
Homeowners whose roof is reaching the end of its life — slipped tiles that keep coming back, sagging ridge lines, damp patches spreading across bedroom ceilings, felt visibly perished at the eaves. Owners of period, listed and Cotswold-stone properties. Buyers whose survey has flagged the roof as a defect and now need a fixed-price rebuild quote.
When it's needed
When repairs are happening more than once a year. When the felt underlay is visibly torn or missing. When ridges are wavy, verges are open, and mortar is falling into the guttering. When more than 10–15% of the tiles have failed. At that point, throwing money at repairs is more expensive than doing the job properly.
Why professional
A re-roof is a structural intervention. Battens must be graded, felt lapped correctly, ventilation designed in, valleys and abutments detailed properly, and the whole roof loaded evenly onto rafters that are sound. Cutting corners here is invisible until the first bad winter — and then extremely visible.
